The NYC Department of Environmental Protection is leading a citywide initiative to replace privately owned lead service lines in historically underserved communities, starting in the Bronx and Queens. Funded in part by the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the program aims to remove hazardous pipes at no cost to homeowners, improving public health and safety across generations.
Johnson & Asberry is part of the outreach team working to engage eligible residents before construction begins. Our team manages on-the-ground outreach by deploying trained canvassers who knock on doors, provide translated materials, and guide property owners through the enrollment process. We also create and distribute flyers, door tags, and other multilingual materials to raise awareness and build trust within the community.
By conducting early engagement—before contractors arrive—J&A helps residents understand the benefits of the program, navigate consent procedures, and ensure participation. Our role is critical to increasing enrollment and minimizing disruption during the replacement process.
